Lead Machine Learning Platform Engineer
to join our Machine Learning Platform team. This team is responsible for building the core components for feature engineering, as well as training and serving ML models at Coinbase. Our platform plays a crucial role in combating fraud, personalizing user experiences, and analyzing blockchains. You will have the chance to apply your engineering expertise across multiple aspects of scalable ML solutions: stream processing, distributed training, and highly available online services. Key Responsibilities: Understand the needs of our Machine Learning Engineers while identifying current capabilities and gaps. Mentor junior engineers in producing high-quality software and advancing their skills. Elevate our engineering standards to ensure high availability and low latency for our ML inference infrastructure, which supports both predictive ML models and LLMs. Optimize low-latency streaming pipelines to deliver fresh, high-quality data to our ML models. Promote state-of-the-art practices for building high-performance distributed training jobs that handle large data volumes. Develop tools to monitor data quality for our models and detect performance degradations. Qualifications: 5+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer. Strong understanding of distributed systems. Lead by example with high-quality code and strong communication skills. Exceptional design sense with the ability to clarify complex technical requirements. View other engineers as customers, with a strong focus on providing a seamless experience. Mastery of foundational principles, enabling quick adaptation across diverse technologies while maintaining high performance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with building ML models and working with ML systems. Background in platform teams and developer tooling creation. Familiarity with technologies utilized (Python, Golang, Ray, Tecton, Spark, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and DynamoDB). Job #: P75014 Pay Transparency Notice:
The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $225,000 USD, depending on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
