Job Duties
JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision, installs, configures, and supports a local area network, wide area network, internet system, computers, desktops and/or mobile devices. Performs necessary maintenance to support network availability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server. Perform daily system monitoring, log review, and performance tuning. Handle Tier-2 end-user support tickets including:
Advanced troubleshooting of Windows desktop issues Office 365 / Microsoft 365 administration VPN, remote access, and connectivity problems Printer, file/share permissions, and application access problems.
Manage Active Directory users, groups, OUs, and basic Group Policy Objects. Provision, resize, and troubleshoot virtual machines (Hyper-V). Apply security patches and updates to servers and critical workstations. Execute and verify backups; assist with basic restores. Assist with cloud administration tasks in Azure and/or AWS. Create and update documentation (knowledge base articles, runbooks, network diagrams). Collaborate on small to medium infrastructure projects (server migrations, VOIP phones, etc.). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Requires on-call rotation (typically 1 week every 6-8 weeks, with senior backup). Occasional after-hours work and weekend required. Mainly sedentary work. May necessitate extended sitting at a computer. Must be proficient with the use of a computer. Occasional requirements for kneeling, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, and lifting up to 25-50 lbs. (sometimes more) for equipment/hardware/servers. Fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, wrists. This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. Onsite/Off premises/In-person office work in a setting which includes shared office space with other employees. Direct customer-facing troubleshooting. NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Associate's degree in IT or Computer Science,
OR
Two or more years of equivalent experience in the information technology field which includes hands-on experience with Windows Server; Tier-2 desktop/server troubleshooting skills; Active Directory and Group Policy knowledge; Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting; and knowledge of virtualization (Hyper-V).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition, to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with two (2) or more of the following:
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science. 3+ years of equivalent experience. Certifications (any of the following are a big plus):
CompTIA Server+, Network+, Security+ Microsoft: Modern Desktop Administrator, Azure Administrator (AZ-104), MS-102
Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow OR ServiceDesk+. Basic AWS or Azure administration experience. Basic scripting ability.
