Data Scientist specializing in AI/ML
to join our exceptional team. In this critical role, you will support the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO) by analyzing, modeling, and simulating data to enhance AI/ML proofs of concept and pilot projects. You will create predictive models and frameworks to boost system performance and operational efficiency. This is a fully remote position available to candidates residing in the United States. Key Responsibilities Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations using Python. Analyze HUD datasets and conduct data preprocessing while ensuring data quality for AI workflows. Collaborate with HCD/UX and front-end teams to effectively operationalize models. Evaluate model performance, validate results, and implement iterative improvements. Document models, decisions, assumptions, and ethical safeguards to support AI governance protocols. Maintain version-controlled code and reproducible workflows for compliance and auditing purposes. Required Experience and Skills Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or AI/ML projects. Proven experience in developing predictive models and decision-support tools. Preferred familiarity with federal datasets and AI governance requirements. Strong skills in data processing, cleaning, transformation, and engineering. Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, and cloud-native pipelines. Prior experience supporting HUD OCIO is a plus. Ability to successfully pass necessary Federal background screening and obtain required government clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Technical Skills Proficient in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch). Knowledge of statistical modeling, simulation, and decision theory. Competency in data visualization with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly. Experience with version control tools (Git/GitHub/GitLab). Familiarity with the AI/ML lifecycle and reproducible workflows. Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Collaboration skills with UX, DevOps, and front-end teams. Excellent documentation and knowledge transfer skills for governance compliance. Experience with iterative testing and validation of AI-driven solutions. Commitment to ethical and privacy-conscious model design. Education and Training Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (required). Master's degree in Data Science, AI, or a related field (preferred). Relevant certifications in Python, machine learning, or data science (preferred).
