Job Summary:
The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates.
We are seeking a General Help team member who is responsible for the safe operation, sanitation, and cleanliness of job‑specific equipment while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role promotes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensures full compliance with the Workplace Health & Safety Program, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS regulations, HACCP requirements, and all company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and clean assigned equipment according to approved procedures and the Sanitation Manual.
Use and maintain all required PPE (steel-toed footwear, uniform, cut‑resistant gloves, goggles, sleeve guards, hair/beard nets, ID tag, fire key).
Follow all Workplace Health & Safety, OH&S Act, WHMIS, GMP, and HACCP requirements.
Maintain safe work practices and keep the work area clean, organized, and hazard‑free.
Report any accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions and support related investigations.
Comply with GMP standards, including the no‑jewelry policy.
Follow facility procedures such as key control, sharp control, and tool/maintenance control.
Use proper tools to ensure accurate portioning.
Maintain proper workstation setup, including height and ergonomics.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support safe operations.
Perform duties according to scheduled hours, operational needs, and production priorities.
Follow assigned work schedules and break periods.
Complete additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, food production, institutional food service, or manufacturing environment is required, including the safe operation of food production or kitchen equipment in accordance with sanitation and food safety standards.
Experience working in a regulated environment with strong compliance to HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, and occupational health and safety requirements is considered an asset.
Physically capable of performing all assigned duties, including lifting a minimum of 25 lbs; lifting from floor to waist and waist to shoulder; bending, twisting, and reaching at or above shoulder height; standing for the entire shift; and pushing or pulling carts and wheeled equipment.
Ability to work in a cold environment for the full duration of the shift and to comply with two-person lift procedures for all bins.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow detailed procedures.
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑paced, changing work environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Positive attitude with a commitment to customer service.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Solid knowledge of HACCP procedures and food safety standards.
Strong awareness and understanding of responsibilities under Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Must wear appropriate, job‑specific PPE at all times.
Required to obtain Advanced Food Safety Training (FST) certification within 90 days of employment.
Successful completion of vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances.
