Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate and monitor daily transportation operations to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement of freight. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and escalate issues in a fast-paced environment. The Dispatcher acts as a key point of contact between carriers, drivers, internal teams, and customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Dispatch and coordinate daily shipments across assigned routes and carriers
  • Assign loads and issue load tenders to approved carriers or drivers
  • Monitor shipments from dispatch to final delivery, ensuring on-time performance
  • Track delays, disruptions, or risks and take corrective action promptly
  • Escalate unresolved issues to management according to established procedures
  • Communicate proactively with carriers, drivers, terminals, and internal teams
  • Provide real-time updates on shipment status, delays, and changes
  • Liaise with CSR, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure alignment
  • Maintain professional and effective communication at all times
  • Prepare, review, and verify shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, manifests, and commercial invoices
  • Ensure accuracy of dispatch records and shipment data in TMS and ERP systems
  • Complete data entry, tracking updates, and daily dispatch reports
  • Maintain organized and accurate operational records
  • Troubleshoot operational issues related to pickups, deliveries, loading, and transit
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and transportation regulations
  • Support after-hours, weekend, and time-sensitive operations as required

Skills and Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in logistics or transportation, ideally within a 3PL.
  • Familiarity with load planning, carrier sourcing, or transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general logistics software.
  • Knowledge of Truckmate is an asset
