JOB INFORMATION
Term: 1 year (12 months), with the possibility of extension.

Starting Date: March 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Stipend: $45,000 – $50,000/year + benefits

JOB SUMMARY
The UBC integrated Transportation Research (UiTR) lab at UBC's Okanagan campus and part of the School of Engineering is seeking a full-time postdoctoral fellow (PDF) to lead research on transportation demand modelling and data collection. 

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS
Under the supervision of Dr. Mahmudur Fatmi (School of Engineering – Civil Engineering), the successful candidate will also work closely with graduate students and project partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Original methodological research in developing and/or integrating different components of integrated transportation and land use models.

Opportunities will be available to contribute to modelling and simulating both land use and travel activity-related choices.

Leading survey designs and administration

Assist in supervision and mentoring of graduate students.
Liaise with project partners.
Assist with proposal writing, research report writing, and journal and conference paper preparation.

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS

Holds (within past 5 years) a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Experienced in travel behaviour analysis, activity-based modelling, and integrated transportation and land use modelling.

Demonstrated experience in econometrics and agent-based microsimulation for large-scale regional travel demand forecasting.

Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Comfortable working independently and in team settings.
