Summary:
The Packaging Operator's responsibility is to take the finished product of a manufacturing process and ensuring that it is packaged in line with the company and industry standards, making it ready for sale or distribution. The machines they operate can sort, weight and seal a variety of products. This role can be heavy for some tasks.
Job Duties:
- Clean and perform GMP and preparation of worksite.
- Primary activities include Checking weights and quality of the products and recording check sheet information.
- Operates machines to fill containers with appropriate products and to label these, and operates machines to produce, package and label products following safety policies.
- Package products per the job order - proper label, pouches or bottles.
- Perform all work to organizational standards to ensure final product meets quality standards.
- Determine and report product and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate authority.
- Always maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned work area.
- other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-year of packaging experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with related products or food products.
- Relevant understanding of GMP practices is considered an asset
- High school diploma/GED.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Fluent English (reading/speaking/writing).
- Have good attendance and safety record.
- Ability to stand, bend and reach for long periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull and lift up to 20 kg (50 lbs.) continuously throughout the day, with assistance when necessary.
- Ability to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
- Highly flexible, with good interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Commitment to accuracy and detail oriented.
- Adapt with ease to changing priorities.
Work Conditions:
- Standing, bending, lifting throughout the day.
- Monday - Friday fulltime, morning/day shift is required. (current shift is 7:15am - 3:45pm)
- May have to travel to other Richmond location to meet operational needs.
