The position holder provides direction to their team of employees, handles task allocation, and is responsible for the work performed. They supervise welding/cutting/drilling/assembly activities within the department and are responsible for training team leaders, who will then manage daily operations. They ensure the conformity of the finished product while motivating employees to achieve results. Finally, they react promptly to any issues that arise and proactively work to find solutions.
  • Manage deadlines and compliance with production standards
  • Organize teamwork based on the project schedule and priorities set by the Plant Director
  • Assess various projects and incoming orders to properly set up the daily welding/cutting/drilling/assembly workflow
  • Monitor productivity and quality on the welding line to optimize production, meet deadlines, and follow welding standards
  • Identify and resolve issues on the welding and assembly line as quickly as possible
  • Ensure all information is properly communicated to team leaders and shifts
  • Communicate daily objectives to the entire team and ensure regular follow-up
  • Ensure proper team allocation according to ongoing projects and manage "flexing"
  • Plan upcoming work jointly with team leaders to ensure materials and information are available for employees on the production and welding line
  • Maintain a daily attendance and punctuality log, and communicate regularly with management to anticipate and address issues or disciplinary situations
  • Assess work quality across different departments
  • Inspire and motivate employees to foster optimal teamwork within the department and with all other departments
  • Lead by example by following and promoting company health and safety policies
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of operational processes
  • Closely monitor internal non-conformities
  • Accurately complete all required production forms and files (TQC, rework, downtime, inspection, test reports, shipping, timecards, training, etc.)
  • Report any incident or accident to the Plant Director and the OHS Advisor (investigation, reporting, follow-up, etc.)
  • Coordinate maintenance operations and required repairs with the maintenance department and Plant Director to ensure equipment functions properly
  • Manage 5S, daily maintenance, and ensure work areas remain clean and functional
  • Organize and review inventories of structures and parts to ensure specifications are met
  • Train each team member based on their strengths and areas for improvement to promote optimal development
  • Evaluate employee performance and motivate them to maximize performance and engagement
  • Demonstrate leadership and the ability to successfully manage special projects
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.
