Location: John Tod Center Y (150 Wood St, Kamloops, BC V2B 0G6)
Term: Casual/Substitute
Hours: hours per week
Shift: Monday-Saturday; mornings, afternoons, and evenings
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $23.67 per hour
Reports To: Coordinator, Family Outreach

Nature & Scope
The Community Facilitator is responsible for planning, facilitating, and delivering engaging, inclusive, and relationship-based early literacy sessions for parents/caregivers and their children (ages 0–5). Grounded in songs, stories, rhymes, and play, the facilitator creates a welcoming space that supports early language development, strengthens caregiver-child bonds, and fosters community connection.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will :
Program Facilitation
- Plan and deliver community groups
- Facilitate interactive songs, rhymes, stories, for parents/caregivers and young children
- Model positive caregiver-child interactions and encourage active participation
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for families of all backgrounds
Community Engagement
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents/caregivers and children
- Support families by sharing information about local resources and services, as appropriate
- Collaborate with community partners, host sites, and team members
- Foster a sense of belonging and peer connection among participants
Program Preparation & Administration
- Prepare session plans, materials, and supplies
- Prepare a nutritious snack
- Maintain accurate attendance records and basic program documentation
- Participate in program evaluation, feedback collection, and reporting as required
- Follow organizational policies related to safety, confidentiality, and child protection
Professional Practice
- Participate in required training, team meetings, and reflective practice
- Stay current with best practices in early literacy, child development, and family engagement
- Uphold the values and philosophy of Parent-Child Mother Goose program
Qualification-you bring :
- Experience working with young children (0–5 years) and their parents/caregivers
- Completion of the Parent-Child Mother Goose Teacher Training Workshop, Infant Massage, Nobody's Perfect Parenting, Circle of Security, or willing to obtain
- Strong facilitation, communication, and group engagement skills
- Ability to create welcoming, inclusive, and culturally respective spaces
- High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
- First Aid/CPR-C certificate required
- Food Safe Certificate required
- Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
