Overview of role:

Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, the Senior Manager, Pay Equity & Compensation Governance is accountable for the governance, and ongoing compliance of the organization's pay equity and compensation practices across federal and applicable provincial jurisdictions. This role provides strategic leadership on pay equity legislation, and compensation governance, ensuring compliance while supporting the business strategy, and disclosure/reporting requirements.

This role acts as the organization's subject matter expert and strategic advisor on pay equity, operating at the intersection of Pay Equity Committee, Labour Relations, Legal, and Total Rewards. Providing enterprise leadership for pay equity and compensation governance across federal and applicable provincial jurisdictions in a union and non-union environment.

Key deliverables include:

  • Lead full compliance with the Federal Pay Equity Act and applicable provincial pay equity legislation, including project, team and Committee management, implementation, maintenance cycles, annual statements, and ongoing monitoring; ensure audit readiness and timely submissions.
  • Partner with Total Rewards to ensure base pay, variable and incentive programs, step-rate structures, and union-negotiated pay align with pay equity requirements and compensation governance standards.
  • Develop financial models, forecasts, and cost analyses to evaluate options and support informed decision-making. Oversee pay equity adjustments, if applicable.
  • Identify and manage enterprise-level pay equity and compensation governance risks (financial, legal, labour, and reputational).
  • Prepare executive and Board-level materials outlining compliance status, risks, remediation strategies, and financial impacts.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, union stakeholders, and cross-functional partners; develop communication and educational materials, as required.
  • Establish and maintain policies, and governance frameworks to support sustainable, long-term compliance.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and case law developments to proactively assess organizational impact and risk.
  • Develop and maintain an external network to keep abreast of trends and best practices in the airline industry.
  • Lead and contribute to compensation-related projects supporting organizational growth and governance requirements.
  • Experience and qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Commerce, or a related field. CCP designation (or in progress) is an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience in compensation, pay equity, and/or labour relations within a large, complex organization.
  • Experience supporting collective bargaining and operationalizing collective agreements from a total rewards perspective.
  • Demonstrated experience in unionized and non-unionized environments, including people leadership.
  • Strong program and project management experience delivering complex initiatives.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in time-sensitive environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
