About the role: Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Mining Engineer or Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing strategic long-range plans to sustain and extend the Life of Mine at Line Creek Operations. The role involves executing all aspects of long-range planning including: pit, spoil and haul road design optimizations, life of mine schedules, strategic evaluations, all while considering potential impacts to sustainable development.   • In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers-in-Training as part of a collaborative team environment
  • Execute on a wide range of mine planning including pit, spoil, haulage and closure design while considering potential sustainable development impacts
  • Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to estimated coal blending results
  • Influence strong site decision making through detailed data analysis and sound mining practices
  • Perform economic evaluations, long range capital consolidation, productivity analyses, strategic planning assessments, and peer reviews
  • Communicate mine development projects to the permitting groups within the business unit. Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure mine plans are following permit compliance
  • Participate in the development of annual reserves and resource reporting
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in mine planning
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) as a Professional Engineer
  • Proficiency in mine scheduling software such as XPAC Solutions, and mine design software such as Minesight 3D
  • Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
  • The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity
