Schedule: Rotation-Based.
Employment Type: Full-Time, Rotation Camp.
The Industrial Mechanic Millwright (Red Seal) is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems within an active mining environment. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation of fixed plant and mobile equipment. The successful candidate will work as part of a skilled maintenance team, following strict safety protocols and contributing to planned and unplanned maintenance activities during regular operations and shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities. Maintenance & Repair:
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and diagnose root causes.
- Repair, rebuild, and install pumps, conveyors, crushers, gearboxes, screens, compressors, and other mining equipment.
- Conduct precision alignments (laser or dial indicator).
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication as required (within certification limits).
- Complete equipment inspections and document findings.
Installation & Commissioning:
- Install new equipment, components, and systems according to OEM specifications.
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and verification of mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all mine site safety policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and permit processes.
- Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas.
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately.
Teamwork & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators, electricians, welders, and contractors.
- Communicate equipment status, delays, and required parts to supervisors.
- Support shutdowns, emergency repairs, and priority maintenance tasks.
Qualifications & Requirements.
Mandatory:
- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification.
- Valid Ontario or Interprovincial Trade Qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial or mining maintenance experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass mine site medical, drug/alcohol testing, and background checks.
Preferred:
- Experience in gold mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Working at Heights, Confined Space, WHMIS, and other common mining certifications.
- Welding certification (CWB or equivalent).
- Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to work safely under pressure and within tight timelines.
- Proficiency with rigging, lifting, and hoisting operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment:
- Remote mine site located in Geraldton, Ontario.
- Rotation schedule with camp accommodations (if applicable).
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying weather conditions.
- Physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
