The Senior AI Engineer is a hands-on individual contributor role within the AI team. This position focuses on collaborating closely with other AI engineers to design, build, and evolve agentic AI capabilities for the financial sector. You will contribute deep technical expertise to shared architecture and development efforts, working as part of a highly skilled team driving innovation in Prophix One Intelligence.

This role does not involve people leadership or ownership of delivery for the team. Instead, you will play a critical role in shaping solutions through collaboration, strong engineering practices, and technical excellence.

Requirements

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the design and implementation of agentic AI solutions that power Prophix One Intelligence
• Build and enhance retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems to support financial analysis and decision-making
• Develop and integrate AI tools that enable task automation across financial workflows
• Implement AI systems that process natural language inputs while maintaining accuracy, reliability, and data integrity
• Participate in defining and evolving shared AI architecture, patterns, and best practices
• Implement and refine evaluation frameworks to measure and improve LLM performance
• Develop scalable AI services using AWS-native technologies
• Collaborate closely with other AI engineers, product partners, architects, and LLM Ops to deliver cohesive solutions
• Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews within the AI team
• Stay current with advancements in AI and apply relevant techniques to real-world financial use cases

Required Qualifications

• A mix of experience, training, or education that helps you succeed in this role:
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML systems
• Strong Python development skills, including building production services using FastAPI
• Solid experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and embedding-based search
• Hands-on experience with LLM platforms such as OpenAI SDK and AWS Bedrock
• Experience building agentic AI workflows and integrating tools with LLMs
• Knowledge of Text-to-SQL techniques and natural language processing concepts
• Experience with AWS services such as Fargate, SQS, and OpenSearch
• Familiarity with LLM evaluation techniques (e.g., LLM-as-Judge, automated evaluators)
• Experience with LLM observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Langfuse, Datadog)
• Strong understanding of system design principles for scalable AI applications
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional engineering team
• Comfort using AI tools responsibly to support tasks such as research, drafting, or data review
• Ability to learn new tools and adapt as technology evolves
• Curiosity and openness to exploring new approaches
• Collaborative mindset when working with teams and technology
• Must be legally entitled to work in the country where this role is located

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI solutions for financial or data-intensive domains
• Familiarity with implementing guardrails, safety, and reliability measures for LLM applications
• Exposure to multi-agent systems or orchestration patterns
• Background in MLOps or LLMOps practices
• Understanding of financial systems, data privacy, and security considerations
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
• Contributions to open-source projects or applied AI research
• Experience with C# and .NET-based backend systems
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes

Compensation

The total target compensation for this role is $130,000 CAD to $180,000 CAD, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws in Canada and the United States. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
