With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science‑based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions.
We are pathfinders and impact makers.
We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Build the Future With Us – Shape the materials engineering solutions that support Alberta's most critical infrastructure. From complex concrete rehabilitation to performance‑driven asphalt mix design, your expertise will directly influence the durability, safety, and longevity of industrial, municipal, and transportation assets across the province.

Based in Calgary or Edmonton, you'll lead high‑impact materials engineering projects, deepen client partnerships, and help guide the technical growth of our Alberta Materials Group.

Your Impact

  • Deliver expert consulting services across industrial, commercial, municipal, highway, and residential sectors, supporting both new construction and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.
  • Lead and execute materials engineering assignments, maintaining strong billability while ensuring high‑quality project delivery.
  • Develop and review concrete mix designs, mass concrete thermal mitigation strategies, and durability assessments that strengthen long‑term infrastructure performance.
  • Conduct structural repair and rehabilitation design, including non‑destructive evaluation of reinforced concrete.
  • Prepare specifications, technical reports, proposals, and contract administration documentation for concrete and construction technology projects.
  • Provide asphalt pavement engineering expertise through mix design, review, and performance evaluation.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring technical excellence across the team.
  • Build and nurture relationships with clients, contributing to strategic growth within Alberta and across Canada.
  • Represent WSP in industry associations and technical committees (e.g., CSA, ACI, ICRI), elevating our presence through presentations, conferences, and committee participation.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • You bring 10+ years of hands‑on experience in materials engineering in Canada, with deep expertise in concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and pavement systems.
  • You're a forward‑thinking problem solver with strong technical judgment and the ability to independently manage complex assignments.
  • You hold P.Eng. designation with APEGA and apply your technical skills to real‑world challenges across various construction environments.
  • You're confident in both field and lab settings — from remote sites to adverse weather conditions — and maintain all required safety and licensing requirements, including a valid Alberta driver's license.
  • You thrive on client interaction, business development, and contributing to long‑term strategic growth.
  • You bring advanced knowledge of CSA and ASTM materials testing standards and their application within engineering design and assessment.
