POSITION SUMMARY Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? The Summer Student position as a Case Aide provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the child welfare sector. Under the guidance of the Casework Supervisor, you will support case management, assist with documentation, and help with administrative tasks related to ongoing casework services. This position offers valuable experience working in a supportive, impactful environment while learning the ins and outs of child welfare services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative support to caseworkers, including managing files, databases, and systems.
- Support case management tasks by gathering and organizing client information.
- Assist in preparing reports, correspondence, and other case-related documents.
- Help facilitate family visits, including transport as necessary.
- Attend and take notes in meetings related to cases and provide follow-up as required.
- Assist with the scheduling of meetings and appointments for clients and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of client information at all times.
- Assist with preparing and organizing case-related materials for court hearings, if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned related to casework and administration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be available to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the full 16-week term.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of the agency's values, service philosophy, and objectives.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong interest in child welfare and social services.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively with children, youth, and families.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- A valid Class G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, is required.

FUNDING CONTINGENCY This summer student position is dependent on the successful approval of funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Employment is subject to confirmation of funding.
