_Occupational Therapist_
*POSITION PURPOSE:*
Circle of Friends is facilitating change in the educational services that are provided to youth with severe disabilities. We are seeking positive individuals to join our mission! As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess fine motor, sensory processing, and adaptive skills to develop and implement instructional/developmental interventions with youth in a school setting.
*Job Duties*
* Access and evaluate youth current level of performance to identify need for occupational therapy services and type/level of service
* Provide quality direct and consultative services based on the student’s individual needs
* Interprets data to design an appropriate occupational treatment plan that addresses students needs and ensures access to their recreational and learning activities.
* Re-evaluates occupational therapy treatment plans on an annual basis via IEP or IFSP. Reevaluates eligibility as needed.
* Develops occupational therapy treatment plans for individual students or groups that incorporate targeted skill development within functional learning activities.
* Fabricates and adapts specialized materials and devices to assist youth to participate in their education and recreational activities.
* Provides training and supervision to Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and ensures proper implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans within daily learning activities.
* Provides consultative services to teachers, paraeducators, and others within the educational plan
* Serves as a resource for medically related information for parents, school staff and teachers.
* Maintains communication with other professionals, general staff members, parents and other public and
private agencies (e.g., Children's' Services Division, Shriners) related to youth’s needs, progress and safety.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*
* Communicate in a collaborative manner that demonstrates respect with the all individuals of the youth’s educational team
* Demonstrate team collaboration by assisting in communicating with team members and parents in person, on the phone and in writing, and adhering to professional ethics and confidentiality.
* Ability to follow the regulations associated with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), and procedural safeguards and Individual Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation for all students on your caseload.
* Anticipates and prioritizes work, clarifying directions and timelines. Tracks and completes tasks in a timely manner, without reminder.
* Responses with enthusiasm to challenge and responsibility. Sees beyond own tasks to help fulfill the mission of the organization. Responds positively to all team members.
* Keeps current standards of practice to provide best service to the child. Maintains professional growth and development.
* Willingness to teach or facilitate workshops, staff development classes, and other meetings as assigned by the Executive Director.
* Maintains organized records of all student educational records, CoF equipment and materials on site. Maintains confidentiality.
* Performs duties related to operation of occupational therapy department, such as maintaining, inventorying and ordering supplies or equipment.
* Proficiency in using computers and ability to learn related software applications, online tracking systems, internet research tools, reporting applications, document scanner, and various Google system applications (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides).
* Willingness to learn devices, equipment, and program plans that support youth functional and social communication, physical mobility and strength, instruction, health and safety.
* Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
*Education and Experience*
* Graduate of an accredited college and maintain a current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Oregon.
*Physical Requirements*
* An Occupational Therapist will be standing, walking or sitting as required. The therapist may have to lift, bend, support and/or restrain a student whose handicapping condition requires adult assistance. There may be lifting of materials/supplies and equipment up to 20-30 lbs. You may be required to participate in a job function analysis prior to employment.
*REQUIRED*
* Must maintain a valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
* Must complete Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and background check prior to beginning employment and enrollment must be maintained throughout employment.
* Maintain good standing and be in compliance with your professional licensing requirements in the state of Oregon.
* Required experience working directly with preschool, elementary, middle, or high school age youth with disabilities and knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
* Circle of Friends works directly with youth with severe disabilities and their families. Must meet Oregon COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Teachers and School Staff (OAR 333-019-1030).
