What we need

COCC is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to provide leadership and expertise in the planning, implementation, and support of our critical Linux infrastructure. The ideal candidate will drive strategic initiatives, mentor junior staff, and ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our enterprise systems. This role is pivotal in shaping our infrastructure roadmap, with a focus on cloud technologies, automation, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

Provide expert-level support in a fast-paced environment, managing complex priorities and driving initiatives to improve system reliability and performance.

Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.

Architect and support CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable software delivery.

Manage and optimize Kubernetes container orchestration to support microservices architecture and application scalability.

Lead the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems, networks, custom applications, and peripherals, with a focus on automation and standardization.

Troubleshoot the most complex system-level and application-related problems, developing innovative solutions and preventative measures.

Proactively respond to and resolve escalated ticket requests and complex issues, communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Develop and implement comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly health checks of the Linux and cloud infrastructure, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact operations.

Lead and participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing, ensuring business continuity and minimizing downtime.

Create and maintain detailed system and application documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, and best practices.

Oversee large-scale computer deployments within our private data centers, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior administrators, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance system performance, security, and efficiency.

Who will be a great fit

An experienced and highly motivated Linux professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses exceptional problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong customer service focus and a passion for technology. This individual will demonstrate leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive complex projects to successful completion. Local candidates who can be on-site in Rocky Hill, CT, OR Valley Forge, PA are preferred for this role. This position is hybrid, with the flexibility to work on-site three days a week and remotely two days per week.

What you'll bring

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

Eight or more years of hands-on experience in Corporate IT/Network Support, with a proven track record of success in complex, enterprise-level environments

Expert-level technical troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on root cause analysis and preventative solutions

Ability to communicate complex technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills

Expert knowledge of Linux Operating Systems, specifically Red Hat, including advanced administration, security hardening, and performance tuning.

Deep understanding of NFS Exports, Samba, DHCP, DNS, and SCSI devices

Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, and optimization of guests

Mastery of shell scripting (Bash), and proficiency in Python or Perl for automation and systems management

Extensive experience with Ansible Tower for configuration management and automation at scale

Deep understanding of Kubernetes and containerization technologies, including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting

Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitLab CI, including design, implementation, and optimization

Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and/or Terraform

Significant experience with public cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and/or Microsoft Azure

Extensive knowledge of Cisco UCS or equivalent hardware platforms, including architecture, deployment, and management

Salary range for this role is 00 annually
