NOTE: This position is a part-time (23 hours/week) seasonal position starting February 2, 2026 to May 9, 2026 and resuming August 9, 2026.

SCOPE
Reporting to Supervisor, Performance Production and Venues, the incumbent is a resource person for staff, faculty and students in performance production and advises on matters of production lighting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Upkeep and maintain lights, lighting control consoles, rigging, and stage equipment in Faculty of Fine Arts performance venues.
•    Coordinate the set-up and strike of lighting needs of assigned department productions, outcomes and concerts.
•    Participate in production meetings, coordinates activities with other departments, respects production deadlines, coordinates production needs and attend technical and dress rehearsals.
•    Responsible for safe working conditions for all personnel and students involved in production activity in accordance with the standards of Canadian Institute for Theater Technology and the University's Environmental Health and Safety department.
•    Ensure interdepartmental liaison with Environmental Health and Safety, facilities services, Custodial services, Security and Public and Fire safety officer.
•    Make recommendations and prepare purchase orders for new purchases and upgrades.
•    In collaboration with the Stage Supervisors, ensure that all clients using Fine Arts performance venues are given the help they need to produce their events in the highest caliber of professional settings.
•    Coordinate departmental equipment and performance requests with Fine Arts and University audiovisual services.
•    Supervise and coordinate lighting and scenic installation requirements of student production activities as directed by the Technical Supervisor Performance Production.
•    Establish, maintain and enforce all relevant health and safety practices within the venue in alignment with current policy and standards. 
•    Monitor, document and update risk assessment of the venue equipment, facilities and processes. Identify and implement improvements to equipment, facilities and processes.
•    Ensure the operational readiness and safety of machinery, tools, and equipment; perform maintenance and repairs on equipment and ensure proper venue maintenance as well as implement and maintain MSDS sheets.
•    Perform other duties as required in support of the operation of the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Diploma of Collegial Studies (three year technical DEC) in Production or in field relevant to the primary responsibilities, preferably from the National Theatre School of Canada, and four years of  experience, or a Bachelor's     degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience with advanced technical training in performance production.
•    In depth knowledge of production management, technical theatre, new media, and touring in a live performance situation
•    Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken English to provide and interpret precise information and basic knowledge (Level 3) of written English.  Basic knowledge (Level 3) of spoken French.  Basic knowledge (Level 3) of written French is an asset.
•    Ability to deal with a stressful and fast changing environment.
•    Current understanding and knowledge of safety practices as per CITT standards.
•    Good knowledge (intermediate level) of  Excel and Word.
•    Proficient in AutoCAD, vector works, as well as 2D and 3D modeling software.
•    New media experience with a multidisciplinary approach focusing on interactive sound system.
•    Current WHMIS certification and workshop health and safety regulations.
•    Knowledge of health and safety regulations in Quebec and Concordia University.
•    Current understanding and knowledge of safety practices including Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology (CITT) and Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA) standards.
•    Will require use of respiratory protection and enrollment in the University's Respiratory Protection Program.
•    Will require use of hearing protection enrollment in the University's Hearing Conservation Program.
•    Have physical ability to occasionally lift/carry/move without assistance up to 23 kg (50 lbs.) and with assistance up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)
•    Some experience teaching or mentoring production techniques is an asset.
•    Previous experience working in an educational environment in an asset.
