The Opportunity

We're looking for a Labour Relations Advisor who brings sound judgment, analytical strength, and a collaborative mindset to support leaders, employees, and union partners through complex and meaningful labour relations work.
As a Labour Relations Advisor, you'll work in close partnership with People Experience leaders and managers, offering trusted advice and analytical expertise across diverse labour relations activities.
The Role
- Reporting to the Executive Director, Labour Relations, you add value to the team by key areas of oversight such as:
- Conducting research into past decisions and provides interpretation of the Collective Agreement to guide People Experience Managers & Advisors on operational issues;
- Conducting research and providing interpretation related to matters in the grievance & arbitration process;
- Supporting the development of the BC Ferries Interpretation Manual & Resources Project, through participation in the project and engagement with the working group;
- In collaboration with the Labour Relations Manager, Interpretation, advising on and supporting the implementation and maintenance of the BC Ferries Interpretation Manual & Resources;
- Supporting the Labour Relations team in Collective Bargaining by collecting, analyzing, and assembling data, preparing proposals, and analyzing union proposals;
- Participating in the creation and editing of post collective bargaining materials, such as the Memorandum of Settlement and the draft Collective Agreement;
- Supporting education initiatives related to negotiated contract changes and assists with implementation of the new agreement
What you bring to the team
- A Diploma in Labour Relations, Human Resources or related field
- Proven experience in Labour Relations research and analysis
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Provincial and Federal employment related legislations, regulations, and related areas of law
- Knowledge of general legal and statutory interpretation principles
- Experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to carry out legal research and analysis

Additional information
The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate's knowledge, experience and internal equity.
