Today we are confirming our search for a Senior Property Accountant who will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful property level financial reporting for CLV. This is a hands on role focused on strong execution, problem solving, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with property operations, provide reliable financial insight, and support the effectiveness of the broader property accounting team.
In addition to the core responsibilities expected of a senior accounting professional, this role includes informal leadership, process improvement, and mentorship.
Property Accounting and Portfolio Reporting
• Own the end to end financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to property operations, capital activity, renovations, and other non routine transactions.
• Maintain the general ledger and complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare clear and practical financial reports for property operations and management, including variance analysis and key drivers impacting NOI.
• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules including property taxes, utilities, and other recurring items.
Operations Support and Continuous Improvement
• Work closely with property management teams to explain results, answer questions, and resolve accounting issues.
• Support tracking and reporting of work order, maintenance, and renovation activity as required.
• Identify process gaps, recurring issues, or inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities by preparing schedules and responding to requests.
• Use Yardi effectively and contribute to improved use of systems and tools across the team.
Leadership and Team Contribution
• Act as a senior member of the property accounting team, modelling strong accountability, accuracy, and follow through.
• Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and informal mentorship to junior accountants.
• Support consistency and quality across the team by sharing best practices and helping others troubleshoot issues.
• Take ownership of assigned work and follow issues through to resolution with minimal oversight.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation is considered a strong asset.
• Five plus years of hands on accounting experience, preferably in property accounting or real estate.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working directly in the numbers.
• Practical experience improving processes or systems in a working environment.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced setting.
• Clear, straightforward communication style with both finance and non finance partners.
• Bilingualism in English and French is preferred.
• Previous experience with Yardi is a significant asset.

The approximate salary range for this role is $70,000–$90,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, educational attainment, professional designations, internal equity, and other job related requirements.
