Position Summary:
The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, comprehensive, and student-centered instruction in mathematics. The teacher fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ensures that students achieve success according to the Ontario Curriculum (Grades 1–6, depending on assignment).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver *lessons aligned with the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum.
- Develop and implement engaging instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including technology integration, to enhance understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
- Differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, respect, and academic growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and learning goals.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development opportunities, and extracurricular activities as required.
- Support students in preparing for standardized assessments (e.g., EQAO, AP, SAT—if applicable).
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and professional standards of conduct.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification with Intermediate/Senior Mathematics qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum and current teaching methodologies.
- Experience using digital tools and educational technologies to support learning.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusive education practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience teaching Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, and Data Management.
- Ability to prepare students for advanced programs (IB, AP, or SAT).
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction, IEPs, and ESL support.
- Enthusiasm for mentoring students in math clubs, contests, or STEM-related extracurriculars.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Richmond Hill, ON L4B 1B9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
