Our busy distribution center in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an efficient and organized Order Picker. This role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that customer orders are accurately and swiftly fulfilled. You will be responsible for navigating the warehouse, retrieving the correct items from inventory, and preparing them for the next stage of the shipping process. We are looking for individuals who are diligent, focused, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety. Your role ensures customer satisfaction and contributes to the overall efficiency of our supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret pick lists or use handheld scanners to locate and retrieve items from warehouse shelves.
- Verify product details and quantities against order requirements.
- Transport picked items to designated packing or staging areas using hand trucks or pallet jacks.
- Ensure the accuracy of picked items before they proceed to the next step.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
- Report any stock discrepancies, damages, or equipment issues to a supervisor.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts as directed.
- Perform frequent lifting of items, up to 50 lbs, following proper lifting techniques.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize picking efficiency and support overall logistics goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Order Picker or in a similar warehouse position is advantageous.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret pick tickets and product labels.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Capability for lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Understanding of basic inventory management principles within a logistics context.
