*Position Overview:*
MIT Open Learning’s Engineering & Products team is hiring a Senior Technical Project Manager to help accelerate MIT Learn, the Institute’s unified platform for non-degree learning. Our products reach millions of learners, and we iterate quickly and release improvements continuously. This role is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, removes blockers without being asked, and drives execution with the mindset and pace typical of a high-performing startup environment.
Reporting to the CTO, Open Learning, you will lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that push MIT Learn forward. The role blends project management discipline with product instincts: you will shape requirements, tighten scope, drive prioritization, and ensure delivery without bloat or drift. You will work directly with engineering, product, design, and external partners to move from idea to shipped reality with speed and discipline.
To give a sense of the types of initiatives you would help drive, recent examples include:
* Building and scaling AskTim, a suite of AI learning tools used in both residential and online contexts.
* Launching Universal AI on MIT Learn with enterprise-grade B2B capabilities.
* Implementing semantic and hybrid search across the platform.
*Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):*
* Work closely with the Engineering & Products leadership team to turn complex strategy into actionable roadmaps, requirements, and execution plans.
* Drive delivery across multiple teams with urgency, accountability, and momentum.
* Manage risks and dependencies proactively, surfacing issues early with proposed solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
* Keep engineering, product, and UX/design aligned and moving in the same direction, in-person and remote as needed.
* Push for clarity when requirements are ambiguous or expanding beyond value.
* Facilitate trade-offs and prioritization with a decisive and streamlined decision-making approach rather than committee-style coordination.
* Provide concise, decision-ready status updates without unnecessary detail or formality.
* Strengthen complex documentation and asynchronous coordination to reduce drag and confusion.
* Introduce lightweight processes that improve delivery efficiency without adding unnecessary bureaucracy or meetings.
* Deliver internal and external presentations, in-person and online, that clearly communicate MIT Learn features, roadmap direction, and value.
* Over time, this role may expand to include supervising and developing other team members.

* Proven success in shipping complex features or platform capabilities with a high degree of autonomy.
* Excellent written and verbal communication - concise, direct, and actionable.
* Ability to influence without authority and keep momentum without escalation.
* Organized, resourceful, and comfortable operating with incomplete information.
* Passion for technology and innovation, with a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus.
* Experience with platform, SaaS, API, or enterprise delivery environments.

*What success looks like:*
* You enable features to launch with focused scope, clear outcomes, and predictable delivery.
* You help teams operate with greater clarity and efficiency by reducing friction in execution rather than adding unnecessary processes.
* You ensure stakeholders stay informed through timely, transparent communication rather than needing to seek updates.

*Who should apply:*
* You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and bringing clarity and structure.
