As a Software Engineering Team Leader, you will spearhead the development of multiple software engineering teams, establish best practices, implement technology strategies, and foster a high-performing engineering culture at WEX FSM. How You Will Make an Impact: Provide exceptional leadership and mentorship to software engineers. Act as the primary coach and manager for your teams.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings that promote constructive feedback.
Develop future technical leaders and senior individual contributors.
Drive technological innovation by keeping teams updated with emerging technologies. Advocate for the adoption of modern tools, frameworks, and design patterns.
Maintain and enhance our technology stacks to address technical debt.
Collaborate effectively with Product Management to offer technical guidance. Work with Product Managers to translate business needs into technical requirements and project estimates.
Ensure engineering strategies align with product roadmaps.
Guide coding standards and design principles for best practices. Establish and enforce top-quality standards for code reviews, automated testing, and system design.
Aim for robust, scalable, and maintainable software design by reducing complexity.
Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and support engineers in their career progression. Implement a structured performance management process including regular check-ins and quarterly reviews based on measurable objectives.
Focus on mentoring and facilitating the professional growth of your software engineers.
Foster an innovation-driven, collaborative, and learning-oriented culture. Encourage innovation and teamwork across all engineering teams.
Promote continuous learning by helping team members develop personalized learning plans.
Contribute to the technical roadmap, highlighting areas to boost development efficiency. Lead initiatives prioritizing technical direction to enhance development speed and quality.
Take ownership of projects aimed at improving the developer experience.
Proactively review the development process to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, enhancing overall productivity.
Experience You'll Bring: A minimum of 5 years in software engineering or 1 year in software engineering management.
Deep understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes including design, documentation, testing, and tooling.
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools, particularly for unit testing.
Strong leadership, team-building, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Analytical thinker with a keen attention to detail.
Proven capability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay range for this role is $150,600.00 - $180,100.00, based on qualifications and experience. WEX offers a comprehensive compensation package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement.
