We have an immediate opening for a Material Handler at our Washington, D.C. logistics facility. This role is fundamental to the smooth functioning of our warehouse operations, involving the physical movement and organization of goods. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks, operating material handling equipment, transporting products, and assisting with inventory tasks. We are looking for a diligent individual with a strong commitment to Safety, efficiency, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will be capable of handling physical demands, including significant Lifting, and will adhere strictly to all operational guidelines. Your role is essential for maintaining an organized and productive warehouse environment.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials and products from trucks and shipping containers.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Transport items between different areas of the warehouse as directed.
- Assist with receiving, put-away, order picking, and packing processes.
- Perform routine checks on equipment to ensure proper working order and report any defects.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within assigned work areas.
- Handle all materials with care to prevent damage and ensure accuracy.
- Follow all company Safety rules and operational procedures.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts and stocktaking activities.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure seamless logistics flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment as a Material Handler.
- Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including repetitive Lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Solid understanding of warehouse Safety standards and practices.
- Knowledge of basic inventory control and logistics principles.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Must adhere to requirements for wearing appropriate PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
