As part of TCEQ Administrative Services, you would help support the logistical and operational structure for TCEQ statewide -- the business foundation for the whole agency. This position is a member of our Cybersecurity Division. What Youll Be Doing
Develop and manage the agencys vulnerability management program and performing cybersecurity support for TCEQ systems located on premises and in the Texas Share Technology Services consolidated data centers. Monitor and prioritize threats, analyze and investigate vulnerabilities flagged in monitoring systems. Prioritize vulnerability remediation based on criticality, exploit probability, rating and business risk exposure. Work with Information Resource teams to track and remediate system and application vulnerabilities. Assist with host and application hardening and attack surface reduction and compliance with master security baseline configurations as prescribed by the Texas Data Center. Develop and maintain operational documentation for vulnerability management processes and ensure compliance with agency and Texas Data Center security policies. Research and evaluate emerging technologies. Stay informed about new tools and technologies in vulnerability management and integrate those that enhance TCEQs security posture and efficiency. Recommend tactical options to reduce attack surface, containment alternatives and impede attackers. Qualifications
Key qualifications: Experience with vulnerability reporting. Experience in vulnerability risk analysis, prioritizing risk or leading vulnerability remediation efforts. Required education experience: A bachelor's degree in an information technologies or related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment. Completion of 15 semester hours in information technologies from an accredited college, plus five (5) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment. Six (6) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment. All the above experience options must have included successful completion of two (2) years as a full-time UNIX, LINUX, Novell, or Windows Server Systems Administrator in a multi-platform environment. Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
