What Is The Opportunity?
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC's Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project based in Scarborough, Aecon is looking for a qualified Senior Cost Controller to join our team.
What You Will Do Here:
- Prepare cost reports with accurate and timely information on budget, commitment, forecast, trends, variances, progress performance, contingency and cash flow.
- Monitor costs against agreed-upon budgets, commitment, and contractual deliverables within and across large project.
- Assign and commit new packages facilities based on estimating work breakdown structure.
- Generate/Maintain all required project status reports for internal management and the client, including the overall project Dashboard and project performance reports (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, KPI, etc.).
- Generate, review, and analyze cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost.
- Support the project team in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status.
- Develop quantity bases for the assumption and/or during forecasting budget.
- Perform data analysis, identify problems, and make recommendations.
- Ensure all contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout.
- Create and implement measurement systems for given processes, analyze performance metric results, and identify improvements.
- Responsible for monitoring/maintaining project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to The Team:
- 7 years of related Cost Control experience on major EPCM projects.
- College and/or University degree in Engineering, Management Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes and an understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
- Applied knowledge of Project Management and Cost Controls principles is an asset.
- Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles is an asset.
- Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to produce, read, and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports is an asset.
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
