Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting the dentist during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring a clean and efficient clinical environment. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and dental terminology is essential. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment focused on general dentistry and specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while maintaining patient safety through proper vital signs monitoring and radiation safety protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and medical coding
- Provide patient education on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices
- Collect patient vital signs and medical history information prior to procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinical environment according to infection control standards
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary, demonstrating patience and understanding for young patients' needs
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Dentrix and familiarity with medical documentation and medical coding is advantageous
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely; experience with 3D scanners is a plus
- Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures along with specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training program completion is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
