Ophthalmic Technician

Hours: 40 hours/week. (Tuesdays 9AM - 5PM, Saturdays 9AM - 3PM)
Education: High school or equivalent

We are a general and pediatric ophthalmology practice looking for a friendly and reliable person to join our team as an ophthalmic technician who can also float as a medical receptionist. COA or COT certification preferred with at least 1 year of ophthalmic experience, but also willing to train the right person. Punctuality, ability to multitask, strong organizational skills, ability to work in a team environment desired. We are fully paperless, with both electronic medical records and scheduling/billing systems (Modernizing Medicine). Must have excellent computer skills. Lunch will be provided daily.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Obtaining complete patient medical histories
• Performing visual acuity testing, OCT, visual field testing, A-scan/biometry, topography, fundus photos, etc.
• Sterilizing and maintaining equipment & rooms using proper sterile techniques
• Surgery scheduling and follow up
• Returning phone calls to patients and pharmacies
• Assisting in minor surgery
• Answering and managing phones
• Scheduling appointments
• Collecting and verifying insurance information
• Registering and checking in patients
• Collecting payments
• Maintaining accurate patient information in the EMR
• Maintaining patient confidentiality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour
