First Cook

Job Summary:

Supervises line cooks and prep cooks in the preparation of food, cooks' food, and ensures the food is properly cooked at the right times and ready to serve.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the food preparation, food service and cleaning procedures.

· Responsible for all food storerooms including fridges and freezers.

· Responsible for maintenance and cleaning in the respective sections.

· Takes part in food storage (quality and quantity controls) when required.

· Maintains the high standard presentation of food together with the Executive Chef and is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, cooking and co-ordination.

· Participates in all kitchen activities to the agreed standards.

· Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food.

· Assures that all food items are prepared and served according to established standards and practices.

· Trains and guides cooks on a continuous basis.

· Forwards suggestions for improvements in raw material, menus, cost savings and equipment.

· Maintains all charts and records according to ServSafe requirements.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently.
• Creativity and ability to contribute to menu development.
• Passion for cooking and desire to provide high-quality dishes.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) or more years of cooking experience.
• Experienced in food supply systems.

Starting pay rate is $19.00/hour. Wyoming Horse Racing offers medical, dental, and vision insurance plus paid time off. Must be 18 years or older and able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
