Tea Loft is Hiring: Shift Lead / Part Time Location: Mississippi Ave, Portland
Hours: 35–38 hours per week
Availability: Open and flexible availability required
Tea Loft is a cozy tea shop built around calm moments, thoughtful drinks, and genuine care. We're looking for a reliable, detail-driven leader to grow into a Shift Lead role and help maintain the standards our guests and team trust.
This role is ideal for someone who notices the little things, stays grounded when it gets busy, takes initiative, and takes pride in doing things the right way.
Responsibilities
- Lead shifts with calm confidence and consistency
- Support the team and keep operations running smoothly during busy periods
- Ensure drinks are precise, procedures are followed, and the space remains clean and organized
- Provide warm, friendly, and attentive customer service
- Communicate clearly with the owner and ask questions when needed
- Represent Tea Loft with professionalism, care, and attention to details
Qualifications
- Barista experience preferred (boba or coffee experience is a plus)
- Previous leadership or shift lead experience strongly preferred
- Extremely reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Calm, organized, and team-focused in fast-paced environments
- Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
Training, Pay & Growth Path
This position begins as a regular barista role during a paid probationary period.
- Starting pay: $16.50/hour during the probation period
- Probation period: Approximately 90 days
- During this time, you will shadow our Shift Lead and learn Tea Loft systems, standards, and leadership responsibilities
After successfully completing the probation period, you will be promoted to Shift Lead with an increased pay rate of $17.50/hour.
The probation period is a mutual fit period. Tea Loft may choose to end employment if it is not the right fit, and you may also choose to step away if it does not feel aligned.
Hiring Timeline
- Interviews will be held in person at Tea Loft
- Interview dates:
- Monday, December 22
- Saturday, December 27
- Sunday, December 28
- Candidates must be able to attend one of the above dates
- This role requires availability to start on January 3
