PediaMetrix is looking for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial Software Engineer Intern to join and enrich its R&D team, who will help us in taking the next critical steps which will grow our company and improve our products.

Founded in 2018, we are a vibrant startup led by scientists and entrepreneurial innovators from Johns Hopkins who are passionate about pediatric healthcare. Our first software-as-a-medical-device, SoftSpot, is already on the market as the first FDA-cleared mobile health solution for infant cranial measurement at the point of care using Computer Vision and AI. Building on this foundation, we are now developing SoftSpot TotalCare, a next-generation solution that leverages AI, Computer Vision, and 3D imaging to empower parents and pediatric providers. The timing is ideal, as there is a need for remote monitoring technologies and telehealth, creating a unique opportunity to improve outcomes for millions of patients worldwide.

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the next generation of SoftSpot, an innovative suite of software solutions that harnesses the power of AI, computer vision, and mobile development to elevate its capabilities to a new dimension.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and update computer vision software/apps on mobile devices
  • Deploy machine learning models on edge devices and optimize performance
  • Apply machine learning/deep learning methods to implement such algorithms in an automated manner
  • Communicate findings in both a technical and high-level manner with teammates

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree or currently enrolled in Computer Science or a related program.
  • Hands-on programming experience using Python, Swift, and Java or Kotlin
  • Experience in Deep Learning/AI methods, device implementation and optimization
  • Experience in app development and modern web frameworks and tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Team worker, willingness to learn and commit to tasks requiring new skills
  • US Work Authorization

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and passion for machine learning and computer vision in medical applications
  • Experience with backend development, dev-ops, cloud services, and app deployment
  • Experience using common ML/CV frameworks or libraries like PyTorch and OpenCV
