Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Jamaican Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring authentic Jamaican cuisine expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences. This role involves overseeing kitchen operations, managing food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. The Jamaican Chef will play a vital role in menu planning, team management, and maintaining a vibrant dining atmosphere that celebrates Caribbean flavors.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Jamaican dishes with attention to flavor, presentation, and quality standards
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including training, mentoring, and scheduling shifts
- Oversee food production processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in meal preparation
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen environment
- Collaborate with management on menu planning, special events, and catering services
- Oversee food handling procedures to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to deliver seamless food service experiences
- Supervise dietary accommodations and special requests to meet guest needs
- Manage kitchen operations during shift changes, ensuring smooth workflow throughout service hours
Experience
- Proven culinary experience specializing in Jamaican cuisine or Caribbean flavors
- Banquet experience and fine dining background are highly desirable
- Supervising experience in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse culinary team
- Experience in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management
- Knowledge of inventory management, food safety protocols, and hospitality standards
- Background in restaurant or food service management preferred
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities including catering, event coordination, and shift management
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on team collaboration and customer satisfaction
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
