Challenge Testing is seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing diesel powered drilling rigs and support equipment used in geotechnical and drilling operations. The ideal candidate is self motivated, detail oriented, and experienced with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting, and comfortable working independently in both shop and field environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, maintain, and service diesel powered drilling rigs, service trucks, and related support equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, and cylinders
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, switches, sensors, and control systems
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and readiness for job sites
• Work independently to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
• Travel to job sites as needed to perform equipment repairs and maintenance (some travel required)
• Assist in developing and organizing a service shop, including maintenance schedules, equipment logs, and systems for reporting and tracking equipment issues
• Communicate clearly with field personnel and management regarding equipment condition, repair needs, and downtime
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company and safety standards

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role
• Working knowledge ofhydraulic and electrical systems on diesel-powered equipment
• Experience working on drilling rigs, heavy equipment, or construction equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Class A CDL preferred
• Willingness to travel as required for job site support
• Ability to safely lift heavy components and work in shop and field environments

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Experience with geotechnical drilling equipment
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance tracking systems
• Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
• Relevant technical training or certifications in diesel, hydraulics, or heavy equipment repair

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
