About the Role
This is a hands-on, physically demanding position operating heavy equipment in an outdoor industrial environment. The work involves exposure to industrial waste, including human waste, and is performed in all weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and strong odors.
This role supports essential public health and environmental operations. It is not a clean or easy job, but it is stable, important work for people who are reliable, safety-focused, and willing to work hard.
What You'll Do
- Operate heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid steers, windrow turners, and other industrial heavy equipment
- Load, move, and manage materials associated with industrial and waste processing operations
- Perform daily equipment inspections before and after use
- Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
- Work safely around biological materials and industrial hazards
- Report equipment issues, spills, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Assist with general site operations and physical labor when equipment is not in use
Schedule and Overtime
- Typical workweek is 50 to 60 hours
- Overtime paid for all hours worked over 40
- Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours
- Candidates must be able to work extended hours consistently
Work Environment
Outdoor industrial facility in Austin, TX with regular exposure to:
- Industrial and human waste, including strong odors
- Heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, noise, and heavy equipment
This is a dirty, physical job performed outdoors every day.
Pay and Benefits
- $27.00 to $29.00 per hour, plus overtime pay

What We're Looking For
- Prior heavy equipment operating experience required
- Experience in industrial, landfill, composting, wastewater, or similar environments preferred
- Valid driver's license required. CDL preferred depending on equipment
- Ability to work 50 to 60 hours per week consistently
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and attendance
- Ability to pass required safety training, equipment certification, and medical screening
