Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with patient intake processes to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Prepare treatment rooms by ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, and readiness of necessary equipment.
- Support chiropractors by assisting with X-ray procedures, basic anatomy explanations, and other diagnostic tasks as needed.
- Maintain detailed records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including documenting patient histories, treatment notes, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, and progress reports.
- Assist with patient education on treatment plans, post-care instructions, and wellness strategies to promote ongoing health management.
- Manage administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, handling patient inquiries, and processing insurance or billing information.
- Support clinic operations by maintaining supplies inventory, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols aligned with hospital standards.
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff to coordinate inpatient or outpatient care activities across various medical specialties including internal medicine, geriatrics, or emergency medicine when applicable.
- Uphold safety standards by monitoring for emergency situations requiring basic life support (BLS) or other urgent interventions.
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in a healthcare environment such as clinic work or hospital settings—experience in dermatology, urgent care, or medical-surgical units is highly valued. Familiarity with EHR systems is essential for efficient documentation. Experience working within hospital environments like Level I or Level II trauma centers will be advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology related to anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, medication administration, X-ray procedures, and emergency medicine enhances your ability to excel in this role. Previous exposure to inpatient care settings such as the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics is beneficial. A background in clinic experience across outpatient services or internal medicine further supports your success as a Chiropractic Assistant committed to delivering outstanding patient service in diverse medical contexts.
