Position Overview
This position is a Surgical Technologist Apprenticeship position, offered by the Singing River Healthcare Academy. The 1-year program consists of academics taught at the Singing River Healthcare Academy and Singing River Surgical Locations- Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula. The Apprentice must achieve Certification, followed by a 2-year commitment with Singing River as a Full Time Surgical Technologist. Throughout the program, the Surgical Technology Apprentice assists in the preparation of the operating room and accounts for all items required during the procedure, including all required instrumentation and sutures. He/She has an understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the surgeon's needs, and handles instruments, supplies, and necessary equipment for the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technology Apprentice ensures quality patient care through the practices of Aseptic Technique. The expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System's procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Education
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Must maintain enrollment and good academic standing in Singing River Health System Surgical Technologist Apprenticeship program.
