Position Summary
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day construction of residential homes from site start through final completion. This role ensures projects are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with plans, specifications, building codes, and company quality standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, and experienced in managing subcontractors across multiple residential projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Scheduling
- Oversee all phases of residential new construction, from excavation through final walkthrough
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, inspections, and material deliveries
- Maintain construction schedules and proactively address delays or conflicts
- Ensure job sites are ready for each trade and phase of construction
Quality Control
- Enforce company construction standards and best practices
- Review plans, specifications, and details to ensure accurate execution
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship and compliance
- Identify deficiencies early and ensure timely corrections
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Manage and communicate daily with subcontractors and suppliers
- Enforce scope of work, jobsite rules, and safety requirements
- Verify work completion before approving progress payments
- Resolve on-site issues professionally and efficiently
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and local safety requirements
- Coordinate all required municipal and third-party inspections
- Ensure homes meet local, state, and company code requirements
Communication & Documentation
- Provide regular progress updates to customers, including timelines and expectations
- Document job progress with photos, notes, and punch lists
- Assist with final walkthroughs, punch-list completion, and warranty items
Qualifications & Experience
- 1+ years of experience supervising residential new construction (custom or production)
- Strong knowledge of residential building methods, sequencing, and materials
- Working knowledge of local building codes and inspections
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and schedules
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing multiple homes simultaneously
- Familiarity with construction management software (Buildertrend, CoConstruct, Procore, etc.)
- Background in framing, finish carpentry, or trades is a plus
- Comfortable using smartphones/tablets for documentation and scheduling
Work Environment
- Field-based position with daily travel to job sites
- Occasional early mornings or extended hours to meet schedule demands
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
