Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of HVAC systems, refrigeration units, boilers, plumbing fixtures, and mechanical equipment to identify issues proactively.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on HVAC/R systems, including air conditioning units, ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, and appliances.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to troubleshoot system problems accurately.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters to test electrical components and ensure proper system functionality.
• Execute equipment repair tasks involving welding, mechanical adjustments, and replacement of parts to restore optimal performance.
• Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs to track system performance and repairs.
• Support property maintenance activities by coordinating with other trades such as electricians or plumbers when necessary.
• Operate a driver vehicle safely for transportation to various job sites or client locations.
• Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems following industry standards and safety protocols.
• Adhere strictly to safety guidelines related to refrigerants like ammonia and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, plumbing, and appliance repair.
• Proven service technician experience with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently using schematics and technical manuals.
• Skilled in construction practices relevant to HVAC system installation and maintenance projects.
• Experience working in field service environments with a focus on property maintenance or commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of HVAC design principles for troubleshooting system inefficiencies or failures.
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment safely and effectively.
• Mechanic experience with boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems, air conditioning units, and general equipment repair is highly desirable.
