La Rana Bistro is a small, locally owned restaurant in downtown Decorah with a seasonal menu that highlights local produce, scratch-made dishes, and craft cocktails. We are open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Saturday.

We are seeking a skilled Evening Chef to join our culinary team--given our unique, one-person kitchen, this is a crucial position at the heart of our restaurant.

Duties

  • Prepare and execute high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment according to recipes and quality standards

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food

  • Assist in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new dishes

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area

  • Monitor food stock levels and place orders as needed

  • Work smoothly with our team and maintain an efficient and positive dynamic across both front and back of house staff.

Qualifications

  • Preferred but not required: previous experience in a culinary role, preferably in fine dining or catering

  • Some knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques, or willingness to practice/learn

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Openness to feedback and dedication to improvement

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
