About The Role
The Boeing Safety, Security, & Airworthiness (SSA) organization is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Compliance and Certification to join their Regulatory Administration System Oversight Team within Regulatory Administration and Airworthiness in Everett, WA. This pivotal role involves leading complex compliance and certification activities for aerospace systems, ensuring adherence to international and domestic regulatory standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external regulatory bodies to define, validate, and implement airworthiness and regulatory compliance requirements across various projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence certification strategies, improve compliance processes, and contribute to the safety and reliability of Boeing's aerospace products. The role is primarily onsite, requiring the selected candidate to work in Everett, WA, and involves engaging with diverse stakeholders to uphold Boeing's standards of safety, quality, and regulatory excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in aerospace compliance, certification, or related fields, complemented by a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, technology, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science from an accredited institution. Candidates should have extensive experience working within certification processes, including international type validation and operational certification, with at least 8 years in the certification value stream. Familiarity with FAA regulations, specifically 14 CFR 21.93, 21.95, and 21.97, is essential, along with a strong background in systems thinking, technical writing, and data analysis. Proficiency with analytics tools such as Tableau, SQL, R, and Python is required, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience. Preferred qualifications include experience in project management, business intelligence tools, systems engineering, risk management, and audit activities. Candidates with firsthand experience in airplane requirements and systems integration will have an added advantage.
Responsibilities
The Senior Systems Engineer will take a leading role in identifying, analyzing, and assessing regulatory and contractual compliance of aerospace systems, products, and services. This includes collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to define and validate airworthiness and compliance requirements, integrating these into design, operational procedures, and maintenance processes. The role involves reviewing complex regulatory and customer requirements, evaluating their impact on Boeing's offerings, and ensuring technical data aligns with applicable standards. Developing and maintaining comprehensive compliance reports and documentation in accordance with regulatory frameworks is a key responsibility. The engineer will lead the development of compliance statements for airworthiness and oversee the validation process with regulatory authorities, ensuring all certifications are achieved efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the role requires researching and monitoring compliance issues, investigating fleet in-service issues, and recommending process improvements or corrective actions. The engineer will also engage with regulators on complex initiatives, shaping certification strategies and ensuring Boeing's interests are represented during certification activities. Providing advanced technical support, training, and tools to approval organizations, along with promoting global regulatory advocacy strategies, are integral parts of this position.
