Truck Driver

We are looking for an experienced truck driver for our small home town trucking company pulling 53ft dry vans trailers. Home on weekends and possibly a few days during the week.

Responsibilities

• Transport goods and raw materials to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform pretrip inspections on a daily basis (without fail)
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Be able to fill out and complete paper logs, as our truck meet all guidelines of running paper logs
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Collect and verify delivery instructions
• Report defects, accidents or violations

Skills

• Proven work experience as a truck driver
• Hands on experience with paperlogs
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
• Valid truck driving license (Class A CDL)

All drivers are 1099 individual contracted drivers. Most runs and lanes are Southeast and you will not be expected to drive in winter weather Good communication is a must with updates on location and load details.
