SUMMARY 

The Building & Grounds Assistant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining CCPHC building and grounds in such a way to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. Duties and other assigned tasks and responsibilities are designed to meet CCPHC's mission of delivering the essential public health services of prevention, promotion and protection to the communities of Clay County. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.) 

  • Follows building & grounds maintenance schedule, maintains the building and grounds through custodial functions such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, dusting, trash pick-up and trash disposal
  • Uses germicidal solution to sanitize surfaces in restrooms, clinic areas, kitchen and floors 
  • Refills soap, paper products and other supplies in restrooms and kitchen areas
  • Performs minor and routine maintenance such as light bulb replacement, window washing and other related activities, using ladder as needed
  • Uses and maintains custodial equipment and custodial supply inventory, and notifies Building & Procurements Specialist if custodial supplies needed
  • Secures facility on a daily basis, when not in use
  • Responds to maintenance requests from staff 
  • Sets up conference room or moves furniture as requested
  • Proactively notifies management of issues related to buildings and grounds safety and/or minor or major maintenance needs
  • Salts sidewalks to remove snow and ice when needed
  • Follows instructions regarding use of chemicals and cleaning supplies
  • Adheres to infection control policies and program SOPs established by CCPHC
  • Proactively provides feedback for improvements that improve quality, efficiency, cost savings, productivity, systems, and/or procedures
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations 
  • Reports for special assigned duties during a public health emergency, if applicable 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • Time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently is required
  • Working knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment and safety practices is preferred

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, bend, push, carry, lift, kneel, crouch or crawl and reach with hands and arms and use hands to perform custodial work
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands/fingers on a keyboard and for office work 
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles (cleaning supplies) 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, bloodborne pathogens, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Primary working hours are 10:00AM to 6:30PM; overtime as needed, including occasional weekends
