Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Surgery Coordinator for a private surgical practice, to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the central point of contact for surgical procedures, ensuring seamless coordination between patients, doctor's, insurance providers and hospital scheduler. Your energetic approach will help facilitate efficient scheduling, accurate documentation, and comprehensive patient support. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, excellent communication skills and at least 5 years experience with Medent, Epic & Healtheconnections.
Duties
- Coordinate surgical schedules by managing appointments and ensuring all necessary pre-operative preparations are completed efficiently.
- Review and verify patient documentation, including medical histories, consent forms, and insurance information, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Medent, and Healtheconnections to update patient records
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre- and post-operative appointments
- Collaborate with Doctor, PCP, Cardiologist and Hospital to prepare surgical cases, verify CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for billing purposes, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Obtain surgery authorization insurance for doctors potion of the case.
- Maintain meticulous records of all surgical activities, documentation review processes, and billing information to support accurate medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) and billing procedures
- Ocassional coverage of front desk by answering multi-line phone systems with professionalism, managing appointment scheduling, and handling patient inquiries with courteous phone etiquette.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment with a focus on surgical coordination or administrative support.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as MEDENT & EPIC
- Familiarity with medical coding including CPT codes, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for billing and documentation accuracy.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology related to surgery procedures and care plans.
- Ability to review complex medical documents accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with strong phone etiquette and professional demeanor at the front desk or reception area.
- Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple tasks such as insurance verification, intake processing, appointment scheduling, and documentation review.
- Prior experience working in a PRIVATE DOCTORS OFFICE environment is advantageous; familiarity with medical/surgical terminology is required. Join us in delivering outstanding surgical care coordination that enhances patient experiences while supporting our healthcare team's operational success
