Position Summary

The Visitation Specialist provides supervised visitation services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This role ensures safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate interactions while maintaining compliance with agency policies and state regulations. The specialist works part-time, offering flexibility while supporting the agency's mission of dignity, empowerment, and family connection.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervised Visits: Facilitate and monitor family or guardian visits, ensuring safety, respect, and positive engagement.
• Behavioral Support: Use developmentally appropriate prompts and interventions to redirect challenging behaviors during visits.
• Documentation: Record detailed, objective notes on visit interactions, progress, and concerns for agency files and compliance.
• Collaboration: Communicate with case managers, direct support staff, and families to align visitation goals with individual service plans.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral or emotional escalations, following agency protocols.
• Environment Preparation: Set up safe, welcoming spaces for visits and ensure accommodations are in place for client needs.
• Confidentiality & Compliance: Uphold HIPAA and agency standards regarding privacy, safety, and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in human services.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and firm in challenging situations.
• Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies preferred.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time: 20 hours max per week, flexible scheduling based on family needs.
• Compensation aligned with agency pay scale for direct support roles.
