Job Summary The Business Data Analyst is part of the department Finance and Analytics Team reporting directly to the Associate Director of Analytics. The Data and Analytics Team is responsible for supporting financial, clinical, education, and research operations across the department. This position will work closely with stakeholders to support their data needs for various projects and programs.
This position will participate in multiple stages of the analytical process, including gathering basic requirements, preparing and validating data, and producing reports or summaries for stakeholders. The analyst will support the team by helping maintain established processes and data structures, performing routine data checks, and ensuring consistency across datasets and reporting tools. Some projects will be completed independently, with the analyst responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the data and final outputs. Responsibilities include maintaining datasets, supporting team workflows, completing assigned analyses, and ensuring that reports and dashboards are produced accurately and on schedule.
Successful candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork, a commitment to customer service, internal motivation, and foundational technical skills needed to work with data effectively. The role is designed for individuals who can independently manage straightforward assignments while seeking guidance as needed.
*This position supports a hybrid work environment. The Business Data Analyst will be required to work on-site based on department need at our office located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget. Responsibilities
Maintain existing reports and dashboards to ensure they run accurately and on schedule.
Manage user access to reports, dashboards, and data tools following established security guidelines.
Organize and maintain file structures and data repositories to support team efficiency.
Monitor and support automated processes (e.g., scheduled data jobs, refresh cycles) and elevate issues when needed.
Complete basic data pulls and ad hoc reporting using SQL, Excel, or other approved tools.
Assist in creating and updating Tableau dashboards, including formatting, publishing, and ensuring data accuracy.
Document workflows and processes, keeping team documentation up to date and easy to follow.
Support senior analysts by preparing datasets, validating data, and performing exploratory analysis as assigned.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements for routine reporting or minor dashboard updates.
Ensure data quality by performing checks, troubleshooting discrepancies, and following data governance standards.
Learn and apply team tools and technologies, such as SQL, Excel, Tableau, and Python, to support daily tasks and reporting needs.
Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professional track.
