Join our busy logistics hub in Detroit, Michigan, as a Shipping & Receiving Associate! We are looking for dedicated individuals to manage the inflow and outflow of goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. This role is critical to our supply chain operations, involving the receipt of incoming materials and the dispatch of outgoing shipments. Responsibilities include unloading trucks, verifying contents against purchase orders or shipping manifests, stocking received goods, and picking, packing, and staging orders for shipment. You will also be responsible for preparing shipping documentation and coordinating with carriers. Maintaining a safe and organized work environment is paramount; adherence to all safety regulations and the consistent use of PPE are mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting. Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and material handling equipment is beneficial. This is a key role that contributes directly to our company's success by ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of orders. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Verify incoming goods against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Stock received items in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing orders for shipment.
- Load outgoing shipments onto trucks, ensuring proper securing.
- Create and maintain shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading).
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely to move materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
- Support inventory management through accurate record-keeping.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or a similar warehouse role.
- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and WMS is a plus.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity for physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse safety standards and the importance of PPE.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
