• Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws by inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations;
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens at or near borders through surveillance from covert positions;

1. Analyze physical evidence of illegal entry; interpret information rapidly to make sound decisions after required training;
   Develop contact with informants
