Job Overview
The Claims Supervisor manages daily operations within the Claims department, overseeing staff performance and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant claim handling. This role provides guidance on claim files, coordinates work assignments, and supports team development while maintaining adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Duties

  • Supervises activities within the Claims department. Responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day activities of employees.
  • Supervises employees and provides file guidance on bodily injury and non-bodily injury claims files.
  • Works toward the resolution of claim files, and attends arbitrations, mediations, dispositions or trials as necessary.
  • May affect reimbursements within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to management on cases exceeding personal authority
  • Ensures that claim payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statues, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
  • Advises reporting staff on claim files and extends settlement authority as necessary after reviewing files.
  • Coordinates the work activities within the unit. Responsible for day-to-day work and procedures. Assigns and checks work.
  • Responsible for performance, development, and coaching of staff (i.e. - hiring, firing, performance management, salary increases, etc.). Provides training to new members of the team/unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements & Skills

  • Outstanding customer service and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Current Texas Property Casualty Adjuster License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Understanding and ability to execute and comply with Texas Department of Insurance Guidelines and Requirements as established in the Insurance Code
  • Exceptional negotiating skills
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to function in all Microsoft Office Programs
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement
  • Non-Standard Claims Handling Experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years of related experience working on injury and litigated cases ; exhibits leadership qualities
  • Hands on, working supervisor.
  • Relies on experience to accomplish goals.
  • Implements Claims policy under the direction of higher-level management.

Pay: $75, $85,000.00 per year
