Trained Medication Aide/Nursing Assistant Registered (TMA)

Bywood East Health Care is a privately-owned health care facility that has served Northeast Minneapolis and surrounding communities since 1971. We are a NFII non-Medicare certified board and care facility that offers a range of health care services with a professional staff committed to providing the best quality care.

We are looking to add a Trained Medication Aide (TMA) to our team We have Part time (weekend only) Day shift positions available (7:00a-3:30p) as well as full time and Part time Pm shift Positions available (3:00p-11:30p) All positions include every other Weekend.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Trained Medication Aide assumes responsibility for specific delegated medication administration tasks, specific treatment tasks, and certain nursing assistant duties. May at times have nursing assistant duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

All employees must be able to show they are Tuberculosis free on start date. Mantoux test will be administered by a nurse at Bywood prior to start, or chest x-ray report will be accepted.

All employees must pass the required Department of Human Services Background Investigation.

  1. Graduate of NAR course

  2. Graduate of TMA course

  3. Currently registered with the registry as a NAR and TMA

JOB/DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers rectal, oral, sublingual, eye ointments, eye drops, eardrops, and topical medications under direct supervision of a licensed nurse, on the assigned station, and document appropriately.
  • Completes treatments as assigned by Nurse.
  • Administers oral medications per schedule.
  • Administers PRN medications only after receiving authorization from the Nurse for each medication given.
  • Reports all medication errors immediately to the Nurse and completes the necessary documentation. Reports abuse of medication by resident to floor nurse.
  • Records and documents per facility policies and procedure.
  • Electronically charts 1:1 with resident, in appropriate assessment area.
  • Reports any noted problems and incidents during the shift, to floor nurse.
  • Assumes responsibility to keep the med cart neat, for cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Attends to resident needs, toileting, answering lights, etc. throughout the shift except during med passes.
  • Completes resident designated charting under the supervision of the Floor Nurse.
  • Informs Nurse of resident refusing their medication.
  • Keeps Nurse informed of resident's condition and promptly reports any change in resident condition to nurse.
  • Completes all necessary documentation on time.
  • Maintains basic knowledge in pharmacology, familiar with dosages, intended uses for medications, side effects and contraindications.
